Going With The Festive Flow

Never is the pacing method for Fibro more apt than during the festive season. Worrying about the societal expectations from family and friends to be present and have and do certain things.

The festive season is a major opportunity to practice, respect and manage your personal Fibro boundaries, and physical and mental limitations. For many of us this is the perfect time of year to get used to saying ‘no’.

This year, our family has been hit by COVID over several weeks as we run up to Christmas, so we are way behind with any preparations – whatever that means, although the decorations are up! Thankfully I have not tested positive but whatever this is has knocked me for six too, on top of ever fluctuating Fibro symptoms.

I have stepped up and adjusted my routine to make sure I can manage daily family requirements while they recover, while respecting my own needs to manage my Fibro symptoms. Christmas will be a quiet one to manage what energy we have left. We just need to go with the flow, to do otherwise would not help recovery and that has to be a priority for the new year.

Wishing you all a festive season low in pain and other symptoms, and remember to be brave with your boundary setting.
