Dale Rockell

I’m Dale Rockell a photographer based in the historic UK market town of Leighton Buzzard, and I am very lucky to be within a short walk of some great countryside including woodlands and the Grand Union Canal. While my main focus is landscapes – including what have become known as ‘portal’ images, I enjoy the opportunity of capturing and creating nature, cityscapes, portraits, models, travel, and abstract smoke art images, when the opportunities arise. I live with Fibromyalgia, a chronic health condition, and when I had to leave my management career in 2019 after Fibromyalgia brought me mentally and physically to a halt, photography become one of my creative therapies, (along with music), to distract me from the 24/7 discomfort and challenges of Fibro life, and keep my mental abilities as sharp as I could through the severe brain fog. It was also a good reason to get outdoors and exercise, which is thoroughly encouraged for self management of chronic pain.

I was encouraged by the supportive online Fibromyalgia community to start sharing my journey hence the blog posts on the Home Page and when ‘Fibro & Photos’ was conceived, I integrate my photography in the narrative sharing the challenges of undertaking my activity, and sometimes a metaphor for life with Fibromyalgia.
